Flying Essentials

Ah, it's almost Christmas, which means it's time fly to my hometown. I always make sure I have list of things that I will need for my trip and of course, the long haul flight (13.5 hours to Taiwan and then another 5 hours to Bali) that I am not looking forward to. Anyway, today I'll be sharing some things I take on the plane! At times like this, I don't care if I look like the least stylish person on earth, I just want to be comfortable and to be able to actually enjoy my flight,

Wear: Always something comfortable, I always go for layering (can never go wrong with t-shirt and oversized sweater), leggings or loose pants (I can't wear jeans on such long flight, too restricting), scarf, sneakers, backpack, and no jewelries at all.

General: Passport, tickets, money, phone, food, and water are probably the most important things. Other than that, I'll always need my portable charger, laptop, headphones, snacks, my glasses (I have horrible eye sight and I don't think I can handle 18+ hours wearing contacts), and a book or something else to entertain me when everything ran out of battery.

Care: Moisturizer, lotion, hand cream, face wipes, face wash, dry shampoo, and small perfume are basically all I need, I try to streamline everything.

What do you usually bring on the plane?

Let's Talk About: Blogging and University

This is something that I wanted to talk about for a little while now. Last November, I announced that I'll be taking a 3-week-break for finals. I started focusing on my blog last summer and it grew so much more than the past 2 years that I was "trying to blog". When Fall semester comes around, the assignments are more time consuming and I found balancing university and blogging is harder.

It takes time to think bout a post, take a good photo for it, and write it. I've written some crappy content in the past and now I understand the concept of blogging more, I want to give the best one I can. I take my classes very seriously and it's my priority because it's what I want to do in the future as a job and going to university is the reason why I'm in this beautiful city in the first place.

If you're wondering, I'm majoring in Fashion Merchandising but I'm transferring to another major next  semester, still in fashion but not just not merchandising. It's fun and interesting, unfortunately, it wasn't creative enough for me. I find myself not feeling inspired and stuck on days, after thinking for months, I finally decided I want to change my major to something more creative but not everybody gets it. I learned a lot with the merchandising classes and they won't go to waste.

I will try to do blogging alongside university next semester!

The Past Three Weeks

Hello! Yes, I am official done with finals! Yaaaay! Thank you so much for all the sweet supporting comments on my last post, you guys are the best!

Up there are some pictures I took the past three weeks. From Black Friday (yes, I went shopping, it was insane) to the stormy sky last week. I'll be leaving San Francisco to go back home for a month soon and I'm really excited!

What have you been up to the past three weeks?

I Will Be Back Soon

Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for the amazing people in my life that are supportive of me, being able to learn so many things this year, go to places that I won't think I'll able to go to when I was 12, and so many other things. And just in case you're wondering, yes, that's me up there  I outlined a picture of myself.

So, to what the post is actually about (other than wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving day of course). Finals are around the corner and let me tell you, I'm loosing it. I don't want to put up bad contents on my blog and I decided to take a little break from blogging and focus on my finals. I'll be back in 3 weeks time! I'll see you soon.

Lots of love,

Casual for Christmas

Instead of going all fancy, I decided to go more casual and comfortable this Christmas. As much as I love the idea of dressing up, going all out with some dress that I won't be able to wear again anytime soon doesn't appeal that much to me. I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to wear on Christmas and I'll be home by then which means it's going to be hot and humid, so it'll definitely going to be something lightweight or just anything that I can wear again on daily basis. Of course, to make it more Christmasy and less casual, a pair of nice shoes and some accessories will do the job. Up there are the few items I've been keeping my eyes on, especially the leather skirt.

What are you going to wear for Christmas?

November Loves

grey zara v-neck sweater  // forever 21 oversized cardigan // forever 21 scarf (similar) // h&m rings // revlon lip butter in berry smoothie // maybeline the falsies big eyes mascara // rimmel london lipliner in tiramisu // naked2 basics palette // air plant

November is coming to an end, it's going to be December next week! So I thought why not share some of the things that I have been loving this month.

Let's start with some clothing. I have been wearing my Forever 21 oversized cardigan way too much. It's super cozy, warm, and goes with everything. Speaking of cozy and warm, I also have been wearing this taupe scarf that is also form Forever 21, I mentioned it here and ever since that day, I've been wearing the heck out of that scarf to the point I'm sure people are sick of me wearing it. Another thing that I have been wearing a lot this month is this v-neck oversized sweater (can you tell I like oversized clothes?) I really think this sweater is very flattering and it's really comfortable, definitely going to buy more in different colors. For accessories, I've been stacking some delicate rings together with some midi rings, I think it's a nice way to add more interest to a plain outfit.

As I mentioned earlier this month here, I have been loving neutral eyes and the products I've been using and loving the most for the look is my Naked 2 Basics palette and the Maybelline mascara, I won't rant about it since I already did that on the post. The neutral-color-love-fest doesn't end there,  but as someone who can't rock a nude lip (I look dead), I really like this whole my-lip-but-better combo that consist of two lip product: Rimmel London lipliner in tiramisu and Revlon Lip butter in berry smoothie, they make an amazing combination.

Last but not least, two random things I've been loving: Peppermints from Trader Joes and my air plant. I prefer peppermints over gums simply because I don't have to worry about throwing it away or having the weird taste in my mouth when I chew the gum for a little too long - yuck. And of course, I have to give my lovely air plant a shout out, it's still alive, hooray!

What have you been loving this month?

3 Things: I'm Looking Forward To

Gili Photo Diary
1. Winter break  can't wait to go back home to be reunited with my family! I haven't seen my family for almost a year, except for my sister who flew here last May and I miss them a ton! I'll be spending a month there before going back here for Spring semester, but I'm planning to do a winter intersession, so I'll probably going to be a zombie for 2 or 3 weeks while I'm there, boo :(

2. Christmas  I love Christmas! Even though we are not very festive, I am really looking forward to it! I have been jamming to Michael BublĂ©'s Christmas album – and Taylor Swift's 1989 of course. Sadly people back home are not as festive as people are here, but I'm excited nonetheless.

3. A little trip So I'm going to go on a little trip after Christmas and I am very excited about it. Last year, we went to the beautiful Gili Island, but this year, we'll be exploring different scenery, a beautiful city in Indonesia with amazing history that I've never been to but I always wanted to go to. Ah, I can't contain my excitement!

What are you looking forward to?

Let's Talk About: Nails

Happy Friday! I'll be done with this semester in 4 weeks and I am very excited to say the least. I can't promise I'll post as regularly  so many final projects!  but I'll post a ton more once I'm finished with finals, especially when I'm going back home for winter break! Yay!

It's not a secret I love painting my nails  I find it very therapeutic  from all the nail related posts I've done. Because I can't stand the look of chipped nails polishes, it bothers me so much, and I'd rater remove it completely, I usually do this once a week. Once my nail polishes are chipped, I always start with nail polish remover (obviously), then I would start clipping my nails (I can't handle long nails), making sure that I clip it to the shape that I more or less want and let the nail file to do the shaping. I always shape my nails more on the rounder shape (not almond because they scare me, not square because I find them extremely unflattering on me) and after I'm satisfied with the shape, I'll start pushing my cuticles back  not the best feeling in the world – and buff my nails to give my polishes a good base, and then I'll apply my base coat. I'm currently using Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear but I'm running really low now and it starts to get very gloopy, I'm planning to try something different, any recommendations? After patiently waiting for my base to dry, I'll start applying the nail polish of the week. I always apply at least 2 coats (gotta love them opaque nails), from the bottom middle and swipe it outward, and then doing the rest of the nail; letting them dry before applying top coats. Some of my favorite nail polishes brands are Essie, O.P.I, and Formula X because they dry relatively fast, their formula is incredible, and they last about a week on me, unlike other brands. When everything is done and I'm happy, I always put some hand cream on.

How do you do your nails?

Leather Jacket

stradivarius leather jacket // forever 21 v-neck tee // forever 21 cuff
stradivarius leather jacket // zara tee // h&m collar necklace & rings
Before last year, I've never needed a leather jacket before but I've always love the look of them on people. A friend of mine got me this jacket as a present for me before I moved here and I'm glad she did; leather jacket has become an absolute staple piece in my wardrobe. Last year, I've worn the hell out of this jacket  I worn them at least 4 times a week mostly because it's so versatile, I wore it with basically anything! . But then the weather got warmer and warmer as summer started to come and my leather jacket was in my closet collecting dust. But, don't you worry my friends, it's finally that time to put on my leather jacket again (and wear them every single day)!

How do you feel about leather jacket?

Them Brogues

1. Aldo Grandora Oxfords // 2. Forever 21 Faux Patent Leather Oxfords // 3. ASOS Makeshift Brogue // 4. Aldo Luveday // 5. H&M Brogues // 6. Dune Loris Black

Other than boots, I love me some brogues. They are very classic, comfortable, and chic. They make every outfit looks stylish without trying; throw on some striped t-shirt, jeans, and put on some brogues, you're all done. They are definitely next on my shopping list!

Some Neutrals and Big Lashes

Naked2 Basics // Maybelline Color Tattoo "Bad to the Bronze" // Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes

I've been replacing my winged liners with simple, easy, and neutral eyeshadows with tons of mascara lately. Why? I don't know, I just love the look of it.

As always, I use my trustee Maybelline Color Tattoo as a base before putting some 'stark' and 'cover' (or any other shades I was in the mood for) on my lids. I was so excited when I finally got Naked2 Basics for my birthday last month. I've been eyeing the Naked palettes since the moment I know they exist but I never really want to commit to the bigger palettes, and the Naked Basics palette is not really my cup of tea; but when this palette came out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The colors are darker than the first Basics palette and the best part is I can use this one little palette to do my eyes and brows. After I'm done with my eyelids, it's time to give my lashes some love. My beloved Rocket Volum' mascara is drying out and I thought to myself: it's time to try something different, or something I've used before but in a different looking tube. Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes something-something-something (they need to make the product name shorter, seriously) mascara is definitely clumpier than the Rocket Volum' mascara but I don't hate it, I can take a spoolie and separate them a bit (I noticed that the brush is different from the old Falsies mascara, is that the new brush or is it just for this version?) and I have to say I love the idea of the lower lashes mascara, I never thought I have so many bottom lashes!

Have you tried any of these product before? What do you think?

Another Lazy Day

forever 21 scarf // stradicarius sweater // zara jeans

I didn't have time to take the pictures of me wearing the clothes yesterday so I took some pictures of them instead. It's one of those lazy day and I just want to be comfortable so I threw on my comfiest jeans and black sweater. The weather is cold but not freezing so I put on my blanket scarf that I got from forever 21, it's super soft and it kept me warm!

Charming Little Space

source: 12
Happy Sunday everyone! Today I'm sharing something a bit different: an interior/space inspiration (or whatever you want to call it). I have a huge obsession with Pinterest and one of my favorite things to pin is interiors. Yesterday, I stumbled upon this beautiful room and I love it so much. I am very impressed with whoever decorated this room, it's a very small space and yet, so beautiful. Despite the fact that I hate small spaces, I have to say that I would love to stay in that room. Everything looks so bright and clean, and the accents of black makes everything looks even better.

What do you think?

Earth's Angel

So, I hinted a few times (here and here)  about a project that I did for my midterm and I think it's about time to show you guys what it was. If you followed me on instagram, you'll know what it is.

Ta-da! It was a group project and I worked with some of the most hard-working people in my class, which I'm really happy about. I'm so proud of the result, it came out just like how we visualized it.

What do you think?

Something Old

thrifted denim jacket // hand me down scarf // white chocolate dress // ishkzia booties

The weather is finally cooling down and I am so excited! I wore similar outfit around last year with the dress, tights, and booties but this time instead of my trustee leather jacket, I threw on denim jacket that I recently thrifted. I can't take this scarf off of my neck lately. This scarf that used to be my mom's and I remember her wearing it when I was very young. I love the toned down color and pattern on it, and it actually keeps me warm. Other than keeping myself warm, I've been trying to find a way to keep my hair in place and let me tell you, my hair is a lot longer now and long hair is not the most practical thing to have when it's windy. I recently embrace the messy low knot/bun thing and I really love it, it keeps my hair in place and I actually prefer this over top bun.

What piece of clothing have you been loving lately?

Something Thrifted #2

I went thrifting – again. This time I found a denim number. I've been trying to find a nice denim jacket after I took over my sister's denim jacket at the beginning of the summer for a little while before she took it home to Bali with her and I actually miss wearing it. From the worn off look and the softness of this jacket, there's no doubt that this denim jacket is well-loved by the previous owner.

This jacket is actually a size 10 and I love the oversized look of it, it makes everything look more relaxed and it gives enough warmth for the transitional weather. I'm planning to change the plastic blue buttons to some metal ones. I'm not sure where I can find metal buttons here but I'll report back once I changed it!

October Highlights

I turn 19!
Found the perfect neutral nail polish.
My new favorite shoes, I can't stop wearing them!
I shared some of my autumn staples.
Fall back in love with white jeans.
I got very artsy with my nails.
I got an air plant!
Yes, I have been MIA for a little while, but now midterm and other things are officially over and I finally have time to blog again! I had an amazing midterm project that I'm very proud of and I'll share it with you soon.

October is my favorite month of the year for obvious reasons (my birthday, the weather, the knits, the scarfs, etc.). Even though I didn't post that much on October, I've been pretty active on social media, especially instagram, huge improvement right there, I post more than 1 pictures a week! I'm an instagram ghost, I'm always on my instagram liking and commenting on people's photos but I don't know what I want to post  I need to work on that. But anyway, October has been amazing and busy and I can't believe it's almost Christmas which means 2014 is coming to an end! I remember celebrating 2014 with my friends like it was yesterday, but I'm excited for 2015!

How was October for you?

Air Plant

I needed an air plan for a midterm project that I'll share soon and of course that's the best reason to get one — wink, wink. As you know, I got some cacti few months ago and not too long ago, and I decided to repotted them a little while ago. Unfortunately, they're dead and I don't know why. Is it because I didn't get a new soil for it? I don't know.

I went to a beautiful plant store called Utsawa Floral Design at the Tenderloin (don't worry, I went to the safer area). It wasn't hard to spot the store and once I went inside I felt like a kid in a candy store. I can't stop smiling, the whole store is filled with gorgeous plants, never thought I'm a plant person but hey, I learn something new everyday. There were so many cacti and succulents, I can't get over it. The owner kindly gave me a very, very, very helpful guide on how to take care of the air plant — spray once every 4-5 days at night, bright indirect sunlight is the best, give the plant some fresh air.

Now I have this little guy hanging near bed, looking all fancy and hopefully it will stay with me a little longer than my cacti.

What do you think of air plants?

Halloween is almost here and I never really celebrated halloween because it was not a very popular thing to do back in Bali. I do love the idea of trick or treating (imagine all the candies and chocolates!!!) but the sad truth is I think I'm a little too old for that. I've spotted some houses with the halloween decorations and I have to say, people in America takes halloween very seriously, those houses with amazingly carved pumpkins, spider webs, little ghosts, and all that jazz. I don't know what I'm going to do on halloween yet (if I'm doing anything at all). But here's a super easy halloween inspired nail art for you!

Colors I recommend:
Cleopatra, Eliana, Hope, Nicolette from Julep

What are you going to do on Halloween?

Here are some songs that I can't stop listening to, hope you enjoy it!

Do you ave any recommendation?

White Jeans

forever 21 cardigan // zara top // stradivarius jeans // forever 21 loafers
White jeans is something that I find hard to style. Why? If you have shorter legs like I do, you'll know that it's though to make it look flattering and let's face it, I'm scared that I'll spill things on it (the reason I have my Tide to go with me at all times). I decided to wear it with these loafers that I love way too much and talk about way too often that elongates my legs and make the jeans look flattering. I have to say that white jeans look great with heels but let's face it, I don't have the energy to walk around in heels all day. And then, I threw on some stripes t-shirt (that I wear too often, just like my loafers) and long knitted cardigan to make everything look more relaxed.

How do you style white jeans?

Camel and High-Waisted

Messily tucked in loose white button-up, high-waisted shorts, and camel coat/blazer. Not quite autumn yet, but it's definitely cooling down — finally.

Autumn Staples

sheinside camel coat // forever 21 cardigan // stradivarius jacket
cloth inc grey sweater // h&m cable knit // flannel
diy-ed forever 21 black jeans // stradivarius light grey jeans // zara jeans // zara skirt

forever 21 loafers // topshop suede boots // nike free 5.0
I did a summer wardrobe staples a few months back and I really enjoyed making it. So here are some of my autumn staples.

1. Camel coat — I had this on my wishlist and my sister kindly got it for me as a birthday present. It's more like a long blazer than a coat and I'm sure I'll be wearing this loads even in the winter because the winter here is not as cold as other places.
2. Chunky cardigans — I've been looking for one of these since last year but I never really make the purchase. I was talking to my friend about me needing a cardigan that's long enough and cozy enough to wear on daily basis and few hours later, we found this cardigan. I tried it on and it fits like a glove.
3. Leather jacket — the jacket that I love too much. A good friend of mine got me this jacket last year before I moved here and it's a definite staple for me.

1. Light weight sweater — there are those days where I don't think thick sweaters are necessary so light weight sweater is a must.
2. Cable knit sweater — one of my favorite kinds of sweater. They keep me warm and they give plain outfit some interest.
3. Flannel — when I think of autumn one thing come to mind: flannels. It's probably one of the most versatile items in my closet; I can wear it as top, layering piece, or tie it around my waist.

1. Black jeans — I DIYed this pair of jeans to give it more relaxed feel and all I did was ripped one of the knees and I cut the leg openings because they were too long and I like the unfinished look.
2. Grey jeans — these jeans are one of the comfiest jeans or bottoms in general. And I think wearing grey jeans make an outfit more interesting.
3. Denim — comfortable, simple, and goes with everything.
4. Patterned skirt — a great way to add more color to my lately-very-plain-outfit. All I need is just throw on some black tights if it's getting too cold.

1. Loafers — the easiest way to make everybody think you put a lot of thoughts into your outfit when really all you do is throw on a pair of loafers and they're something you can wear all day.
2. Flat boots — they're not ankle boots but they're not as tall as my other boots, but just as versatile as my other boots.
3. Bright trainers — do you the theme here? hint: comfortable shoes. Bright trainers are one of the easiest ways to add more colors to an outfit and they are perfect for those days filled with errands.

What's your autumn wardrobe staples?
