three things #2

Welcome to the second installment of the three things series, hope you enjoy!

1. Coffee dripper // I talked about tea last week, but I still love my coffee. I used to use a french press to make my coffee, but I'm not a big fan of waiting for my coffee steep for a few minutes and I certainly do not enjoy cleaning it. Before I want back home last December, I decided it's time to try the dripper. I got mine from Sur La Table and the filter paper from Daiso. It's fast and and all I have to do is throw away the paper filter, easy.

2. Sunscreen // I rarely hear people talk about sunscreens, which is weird because I think sunscreen is very important. I used to be really bad at putting on sunscreen because they feel weird and they don't smell very nice, and I used to think that the SPF in my moisturizer or foundation is enough but I was very wrong about that. I learned the importance of sunscreen and I was determined to find one that I like. I bought this one by Bioré when I was in Bangkok, it has watery texture, makes it light and it feels nice on my skin.

3. These Cocoa Peanut Butter Goodness // I found this recipe through VDM in this post– one of my favorite blogs. It's really easy and I already have most of the ingredients that I needed to make them. It's really delicious (I mean chocolate and peanut butter? yes please) and healthy too. I thought I should pass along the amazing recipe by Madeline Shaw: 250g Crunchy Peanut Butter, 100g Hazelnuts, 300g Medjool Dates, 2 TBSP Coconut Oil, 2 TBSP Honey, 6 TBSP Raw Cacao Powder, a pinch of salt.  Mix them all up and shape them into balls or anything you like and put them in the freezer. I personally not a big fan of dates and I couldn't find hazelnut so I just add some extra almonds!

three things #1

Monthly favorites (or as I cal them, monthly loves) is one of my favorite posts to write and photograph, but it seems that I almost always forget that I have to do the post and I sometimes forgot what I've been loving that month. So I introduce you to a new series: three things – where I'll be sharing three things or experience that I've been enjoying or excited about that week, note that this segment is currently experimental, I'm really looking forward to make the posts and I hope you will enjoy them.

1. Rose green tea // I talked about coffee a few times, but I don't remember if I've ever talked about tea, specifically green tea. I love green tea, but last year my sister gave me a few pack of green tea with rose buds in them and wow, it changes the game. A hint of the aroma of the rose makes it even better – I'm not sure how to explain it, but it was amazing! If you are able to get your hands on some, please go give them a try.

2. Nikon Zoom 310 AF //  This camera is at least 15 years old. How do I know? because my dad has this camera since I was about 5 years old. When I first got into film photography, I asked my dad if he still had the camera that he used when I was a kid, and he answered me with an 'of course!' he found it but then he can't remembered where he put it. So when I was back home last month, I have to go through a few boxes and ta-daaa, the camera was in one of the boxes! I've put in new batteries for it and I have to say that I'm excited to use this camera!

3. Klorane dry shampoo // Dry shampoo and I, we don't have the best relationship. I've tried a few and they just gave me an itchy scalp and my scalp feels even dirtier than before. When I was staying over my friend's place over thanksgiving, she told me to try this dry shampoo and I have to say it's lighter than the ones I've tried before, it smells amazing and the most important part is no itchy scalp! I got mine from Watsons when I was in Singapore but it's also available at Amazon and Sephora.

Until next time!

photo diary: thailand 2016

Happy 2016 everyone! I hope January has been amazing to you and welcome to the first post of the year – yikes.

Here's a quick life update: I went back home for a month for winter break, watched Star Wars (amazing!), went to Bangkok with the family and had such an amazing time, spent tons of time with my family, and I'm back in San Francisco. And today's post is a photo diary of my week in Bangkok.

If you like shopping and eating (raising my hand), Bangkok is a great place to go to. The food is just amazing: tom yum, fresh coconut water, mango sticky rice, and coconut ice cream. We visited The Grand Palace, the floating market, Asiatique, Siam night market, Chatuchak Weekend Market, and a few shopping malls. One week there is surprisingly short, it was a sad day when we had to go home to Bali.

I didn't take that many photos purely because bringing big camera is not exactly the safest thing to do (beware of pickpockets). I still have 3 rolls of film to develop from my trip to Bali and Bangkok, can't wait to share it!
